Taylors Bulbs Narcissus 'Tete A Tete' XL Pack (18)
Narcissus 'Tête à Tête' is the classic, best-loved miniature daffodil, and for good reason: reliable, floriferous and one of the very first splashes of colour to appear each spring. Each compact stem carries two to three cheerful golden-yellow flowers, with slightly reflexed outer petals surrounding a deeper yellow trumpet, opening from March into April. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is a genuinely perennial variety, building into generous clumps over the years.
Supplied as extra-large bulbs in this pack for a stronger first-season display. Plant in autumn at around one and a half to two times the bulb's own depth, in full sun or partial shade and moderately fertile, well-drained soil. It's an easy, forgiving variety that tolerates a wide range of conditions, including some exposure, making it a good choice even in spots too tricky for taller daffodils.
At just 15–20cm tall, it's ideal for the front of a border, rockeries, patio containers, or naturalised in bold drifts through grass. Left undisturbed, clumps will bulk up nicely over the years, though congested clumps can be lifted and divided after flowering to keep them vigorous. As with all narcissi, the bulbs and foliage are harmful if eaten and can cause skin irritation, so handle with care and keep out of reach of pets and children.
Each bulb is hand-selected before dispatch. Available from Pengelly Garden Centre.
