Taylors Bulbs Tulip 'Slawa' (6)
An award-winning Triumph tulip with real theatre, Tulip 'Slawa' opens deep, dark reddish-purple with a striking orange-pink margin flaming up each petal — a colour combination that only grows more dramatic as the blooms mature. Sturdy stems hold the flowers to around 35cm, making 'Slawa' a superb choice for borders, mass planting, or cutting for the vase.
Plant the bulbs in late autumn at a depth of 10-15cm in fertile, well-drained soil, choosing a sunny spot with some shelter from strong winds and excess winter wet. 'Slawa' flowers in mid-spring and, like most tulips, is best treated as a reliable single-season performer, though bulbs can be lifted once the leaves die down and replanted the following autumn. As with all tulips, the bulbs are harmful if eaten and can cause skin allergies, so gloves are worth wearing during planting.
Supplied as a pack of 6 top-quality bulbs. Each bulb is hand-selected before dispatch. Available from Pengelly Garden Centre.
