From late summer, feathery tassel-like plumes rise above the foliage, opening pink-tinged and fading gradually to a soft creamy white — both foliage and flowerheads persist attractively right through winter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eA compact, clump-forming grass reaching around 1 to 1.5 metres in height with a spread of 0.5 to 1 metre, making it a good scale for smaller borders, containers, or as a foreground planting in front of taller Miscanthus varieties. Grow in full sun in any moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil, protecting from excessive winter wet. Cut old foliage right back to the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
