Cardamine pratensis 1L

A dainty British native perennial, perfect for wildlife gardens, damp borders, or pond margins. From spring, delicate four-petalled flowers in pale pink, lilac or white appear above rosettes of soft, ferny foliage, held on slender upright stems to around 45cm.

Lady's Smock thrives in moist to boggy soil in sun or part shade, making it ideal for stream edges, wet meadows, or the margins of a garden pond, where it can be planted at or just below the water surface. It's a valuable early nectar source for pollinators and the main food plant for Orange Tip butterfly caterpillars.

Deadhead after flowering to encourage a second flush and keep self-seeding in check.
