Azalea mollis 'Persil' 10ltr
Azalea (mollis) 'Persil'
Worth noting: 'Persil' is technically a Knap Hill hybrid azalea rather than a true Azalea mollis, though it's widely sold under the "mollis" name in the trade. A holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it produces large trusses of softly fragrant, pure white flowers with a bold, prominent deep yellow flare in the throat, opening on upright stems in mid-to-late spring before the leaves are fully out.
A vigorous, upright deciduous shrub, 'Persil' reaches around 1–1.5m in height with a similar spread, making it a striking specimen for a woodland border or mixed shrub bed, where its bright white blooms show up beautifully against dappled shade. Beyond flowering, the mid-green foliage puts on a second show, turning rich shades of orange and red in autumn. It grows best in humus-rich, consistently moist, acidic soil in sun or partial shade, with some shelter from harsh winds, and benefits from an annual mulch of ericaceous compost. All parts of the plant are harmful if eaten, so gloves are recommended when handling and pruning.
Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
